Stories of Place

Collaborator with Kate Handzlik of Higher Ground Theater, Karen Rignall of University of Kentucky, and Madison Mooney of LiKEN Knowledge.

Stories of Place is a youth-centered program creating a space by and for Martin Countians to share to explore the power of place. In Stories of Place’s school-based residencies, students experience the discovery process associated with storytelling and the principles and ethics of participatory action research.

Our team facilitated a three-day documentary theatre residency in Martin County High School for 150 students using storytelling and performance as a vehicle for students to reflect on their attachment, joys, ambivalence and challenges surrounding Martin County.

“Your residency breathed such life into the project and there is broad enthusiasm now across the county. It’s such a positive thing.” - Karen Rignall
